1) Why the need for change?

RHIDES has been in service of 14 years now; the technologies that RHIDES was built on are no longer compatible with today’s modern operating systems and internet browsers.

2) How will this change affect my business and driver(s)?

The proposed changes have been made to streamline the current driver enrolment procedure, limiting company participation and reducing waiting times for drivers.

The Pass Office staff will now handle the whole enrolment procedure.

3) How will my driver(s) obtain a RHIDES card in the future?

A driver will need to attend the Pass Office with 2 forms of photographic ID; one must still be a valid HGV driving license, and a valid VBS or DFDS reference number. The Pass Office will do the rest.

4) My driver(s) already have a valid RHIDES cards, will they need to be changed?

No, the current RHIDES cards will be transferred over to the new system. Your drivers can continue to use their cards has before.

5) What if my driver loses their RHIDES card?

Just send them into the Pass Office along with their valid HGV driving licence and we will renew it.
